PRINCE2(r), Certification – A Benchmark for Excellence in Project Management
PRINCE2(r), a structured method for project management, is available. It is a worldwide recognized collection of best practices. This approach was first used by the UK government for projects. It is still one of the most sought-after methods in the world today.
PRINCE2(r), consists of seven stages. These stages are as follows:
1. Start a project: This stage assesses the need to start a new process. This stage includes the evaluation of the process and the validation of any new requests.
2. The task of directing a project is a responsibility of the organization. These people are authorized by the organization to initiate a project or take ad-hoc decision. They are also known as the Project Board. They are responsible for directing a project.
3. The manager/board initiates a project by creating the project scope document. For the work to be done, the areas of work, resources, and quality parameters are established. This document contains the project initiation document (PID).
4. Planning a project: This stage involves setting up work stages for a particular project. Customers need constant support throughout the service delivery cycle. This level is responsible for delivering timely processes.
5. Controlling a project involves dividing the work into smaller tasks called work process. These processes include quality parameters and change control.
This means that the process can be stopped temporarily to allow for changes. The process is then examined for any flaws. If there are any, then the process is re-started.
6. Monitoring a project: Regular feedback is essential to ensure that the project is being monitored. This stage examines the progress and issues. The manager/board must approve the process before it can proceed.
7. Closing a Project: Once a project has been completed, it is necessary to document all of the work. The process is reviewed and any changes made are recorded for future reference. After all reporting is completed, the project is closed.
