For new project managers, or aspiring project managers just starting out in project management, project management organizations can be a great resource.
This video shows you how to find them and how to get involved.
A few questions were received from the UK about how to get into project management. I included my key part in my answer by involving myself in project management organizations. This is especially true for the two of them who are from London, where there are many organizations they can tap into. Even if you live in an area that does not allow you to attend regular events in person, there are many resources online to connect with project managers in your local area. Two of the best resources I use are ProjectManagers.net and the International Community of Project Managers (ICPM).
I explain how education and certifications are great but they don’t make you a great manager. Next, I show how I found specific organizations and events for project managers to attend and get involved with. I will be covering the PMI UK Chapter and APM. However, I also mention LinkedIn events, the IPMA, Brittish Computer Society, and others. There are many options.
