Our “under the hood operations” are ending as the summer ends. We have been working on many details that are not visible to our users but will be useful for the future. Here’s a quick list of what we did in August: Budget alerts
Task modal
Xero integration
Alerts for the budget
This is a topic we discussed last time. We promised a new option, and it has! You can now set a default budget percentage at a system level. ActiveCollab has been automated in large part, as you may have already noticed. It’s now easy to create recurring tasks, project templates, task dependences, set tracked hours as billable, or not by default, and many other things. Software can take over repetitive tasks, so people don’t have to waste their time. Our goal is to allow you to focus on Real Work. You can set up a default budget percentage to cover all your projects and you won’t need to think about it again. You’ll be notified if you spend more than 50% of the project’s budget. Task modal
This isn’t a change you’ll notice immediately. We have been improving the performance of the code and making the app run faster. Although it sounds like a quick fix it actually took a lot of time. The good news is that there will be fewer glitches in the future and less loading time.
In November, we faced a similar situation with QuickBooks. Xero will be saying goodbye to OAuth1.0 and we’ll make sure that our integration continues to run smoothly. Cloud users don’t have to worry about anything as everything will be automatically updated. Self-hosted users will be sent an email with detailed instructions for how to reconnect their Xero accounts. Uptime
ActiveCollab’s August uptime was 99.85%. It isn’t 100% because we made the necessary architecture changes. We are pleased to have the two systems decoupled. We expect a slightly higher system resilience and performance.
My Work finally gets the spotlight! It was planned to start work on it in August. However, the task modal proved more difficult than expected. It was also a time filled with vacations. Now we’re ready to tackle the most requested feature: grouping tasks according to their due dates in My Work! September is the start of a new school year. It’s also the beginning of many projects. They will be discussed more in the months to come, so keep checking back! Stay safe.
