Are you planning on taking the CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP), exam this year? CompTIA recently announced updates to the CASP exam. The CS-002 code is used in the new CASP exam. On June 20, 2015, the old exam CAS001 will be retired. Even though it may seem that you have plenty of time, we recommend you start preparing for the new exam.
CASP, which is the CompTIA Advanced Security Certification Program, validates candidates’ IT security skills and competency. CompTIA claims that the new exam addresses the most recent enterprise-level cybersecurity threats. The exam ensures that new CASP credential holders are able to effectively combat the increasing threat of malware from both individual hackers and organized hacking groups. The new CASP version covers the troubleshooting procedures security professionals use to protect data, devices, and networks.
It’s obvious that the CASP exam was not easy. The new one will be more difficult. James Stanger, CompTIA’s senior director of product development, stated that each hack is unique. These threats require creativity and technical knowledge. These advanced skills will be assessed in the CASP exam.
CASP exam targets IT professionals who have at least 10 years of experience in IT administration and five year’s hands-on experience in technical security in job roles like information security analyst, security manager, cybersecurity risk manager, and cybersecurity risk analyst. CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner exam (CASP) is an internationally focused validation of advanced security skills and knowledge. Although there is no prerequisite, the CASP certification follows CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent experience. It has a technical, hands on focus at the enterprise level.
The exam contains only 80 questions and is completely performance-based. The CASP CAS002 exam objectives are:
Enterprise Security – 30%
Incident Response and Risk Management 20%
Research and Analysis – 18%
16% Integration of Computing, Communications, and Business Disciplines
Technical Integration of Enterprise Components – 16%
