Alert Logic Inc. announced the availability of a native cloud vulnerability management solution that will help to enhance the security features found in Amazon Web Services Inc.’s (AWS) cloud.
The Houston-based company, which describes itself as a Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) specialist, said the new Cloud Insight solution provides an integrated view of host- and application-level vulnerabilities on the AWS cloud and then proactively takes remediation steps.
It integrates with AWS security features and hooks into AWS APIs to various services, such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud(Amazon EC2) and Amazon Virtual Private Clouds (Amazon VPC), AWS Identity and Access Management [AWS IAM] and AWS CloudTrail.
Gray Hall, CEO of Alert Logic Cloud Insight, stated that managing security and maintaining agility in the cloud is fundamentally different from any other environment. Alert Logic Cloud Insight is an innovative solution that provides businesses with additional visibility for workloads on AWS. It provides actionable intelligence to identify, eliminate and mitigate risk across applications and instances while not slowing down the business.
The proactive “intelligent remedy” functionality generates a list of possible actions, ranked according to priority, to address vulnerabilities discovered in continuous monitoring of an organization’s security posture.
Alert Logic claims its solution offers functionality that is not available in legacy systems and does away with the need to perform manual steps required to provide current security information. The company claims that the company’s automated, continuous, and remediation-centric approach improves on manual, error-prone approaches.
“Unlike traditional security tools, which require manual configuration, significant training, and expense, Cloud Insight identifies threats, vulnerabilities across our network and system layers, with minimal resources requirements,” James Hirmas (CEO of GenomeNext), stated. Cloud Insight automatically tracks additions and deletions in our AWS environment. This allows us to identify potential exposures in both AWS service layers that could lead to compromise.
Yesterday, the company announced the new product at the Black Hat USA 2015 security conference held in Las Vegas.
